Head coach Rich Schelsky led the Parke Heritage High School boys basketball team to their first Class 2A State Championship in program history with a thrilling 57-56 victory over Westview at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The dramatic win capped off a legendary storybook season, marking a historic milestone for the school:
-The Winning Play: Trailing 56-55, senior Treigh Schelsky drove the lane with 8.4 seconds left and dished a pass to 6-foot-9 senior Isaac Pickel, who sank the go-ahead layup.
-The Coach and Son Connection: The championship was deeply personal for Rich Schelsky, who coached his son, Treigh Schelsky (a Huntington University commit), as Treigh capped off a memorable high school career.
-Statistical Highlights: Treigh Schelsky and Brenden Goins both tallied 17 points in the final, while Carter Crum added 13. Brenden Goins also set an IHSAA state record by shooting 100% from the three-point line (5-5) during the championship game.
-Road to the Title: The Wolves (27-4) finally broke through on their fourth consecutive trip to the Southport Semistate, ultimately taking home the gold in Indianapolis.
